Two journals, one position

Most journals make you pick a side — options or stocks. TickerScribe tracks both and links them. Sell a cash-secured put; when it's assigned, the shares appear in your stock journal at the right cost basis. Sell a covered call against them; when they're called away, the sale closes the loop.

Ledger-accurate P&LDouble-entry

P&L that balances to the cent

Every trade posts to a double-entry ledger inside a transactional database. Your P&L is derived from entries that must balance — not pieced together from spreadsheet formulas.

Premiums, commissions, and assignments each get their own entry. Roll an option and the chain links automatically. Get assigned, and the shares flow straight into your stock journal — every leg accounted for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TickerScribe really free?
Yes, 100% free. There are no tiers, no hidden limits, no trial periods, and no credit card required. Every feature you see — options journal, stock journal, P&L calendar, dashboard, trade analysis, ticker report, and multi-account support — is available at no cost.
Will TickerScribe always be free?
The current feature set will always remain free. If premium features are ever introduced, everything available today stays free for all users.
How does TickerScribe calculate P&L?
Every trade is posted to a double-entry ledger inside a transactional database. P&L is derived from ledger entries that must balance — not calculated with formulas — so your numbers are accurate down to the penny. Premiums, commissions, and assignments each get their own entry for full transparency.
How is this different from tracking trades in a spreadsheet?
No formulas to build, no files to lose, no accidental edits that silently break your P&L. TickerScribe gives you structured trade data with automatic calculations, position grouping, a P&L calendar, and trade analysis — all maintained for you.
Can I import my existing trades?
Yes. Major brokers are auto-detected on upload — Interactive Brokers, thinkorswim, Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood, TradeStation, tastytrade — and so are StonkJournal exports and Tradervue-format CSVs. Any other broker or journal — TraderSync, Edgewonk, and more — imports through the universal CSV mapper, with column mappings auto-suggested. A preview step flags duplicates before anything is saved, so re-importing is safe. No manual re-entry required.
Can TickerScribe track option rollovers?
Yes. Rollover chains automatically link related rolls so you see the full history and cumulative P&L across every leg of a rolled position. No manual bookkeeping required.
What option strategies does TickerScribe support?
Over 30 predefined strategies — covered calls, cash-secured puts, vertical spreads, iron condors, iron butterflies, straddles, strangles, calendar spreads, diagonal spreads, butterflies, condors, collars, and more. You can also build fully custom positions with up to 8 legs. Strategy detection is automatic based on your strikes, expirations, and contract types. Learn more about the options journal.
What option Greeks does TickerScribe track?
Delta, gamma, theta, vega, and implied volatility (IV) — captured per trade at the time of entry. This lets you review your exposure and decision-making after the fact, not just the outcome.
Can I use TickerScribe for stock trading only?
Yes. The stock trading journal is a fully standalone tool. Track buys, sells, partial exits, and positions with FIFO, LIFO, or average cost basis — no options trading required. All shared analytics features like the P&L calendar, dashboard, and trade analysis work with stock trades.
Can I use TickerScribe for options trading only?
Yes. The options trading journal supports 30+ predefined strategies, multi-leg positions, rollover chains, Greeks & IV tracking, assignment and expiration handling, and per-leg P&L — all without needing to use the stock journal. The shared analytics layer works with options trades just as well.
Can I share my P&L calendar publicly?
Yes. One click generates a public, read-only link for the month you're viewing, and you can post it straight to X, Reddit, Facebook, or Telegram from the same dialog. Recipients see the colored calendar, weekly totals, and headline stats — never the underlying trades. Tickers, strikes, expirations, and order details stay private. You can also hide amounts before sharing to show consistency without revealing account size. Learn more about the shareable P&L calendar.
Can I track multiple portfolios or brokerage accounts?
Yes. You can create up to three separate trading accounts under a single login. Each account has its own trades, positions, P&L, calendar, dashboard, and settings — including its own base currency. Learn more.
Is my trading data private?
Yes. Your data is isolated to your account with row-level security. TickerScribe does not sell data, show ads, or share your information with third parties.
